About MAC de Kempenrijders
Founding, events and the future
The club
M.A.C. De Kempenrijders, based in Budel, is a club whose aim is to organise motocross and autocross competitions. The club was founded in 1958 by a handful of enthusiasts. The first race took place on 19 June 1960. In the early years, road and grass-track races were even organised.
Events
Nowadays, current permit requirements no longer allow such activities. A number of activities are organised every year: the MX youth cross and DMX cross in cooperation with the KNMV, and the Autocross under the auspices of ASUZ.
The future
The problem of permits and environmental objections still plays a major role today for racing at the De Budelerbergen circuit. The circuit, owned by the Ministry of Defence, faces increasingly strict regulations, intensive inspections and rising costs. The board is working hard to prevent closure and urgently asks members to comply with the environmental requirements, particularly regarding the use of the environmental mat.
"As a motor club we want to keep organising! You want to keep racing?!" The cooperation of our members is essential to prevent the circuit from having to close after all, after 50 years.
